I have been terrible about updating my blog. Not that anyone even reads this. Literally no one. But I still have so much to post! I have baked a lot and tried a lot of new restaurants and food! Pictures and descriptions to come soon!
As of right now, I am sitting at a desk at work, listening to my dad pack up his things, being this is his last day as GM at Pine Forest Country Club and then he makes the move to College Stations being the GM at Traditions Country Club. EEK! I love working up here. The people are so nice and friendly. I have learned about myself, that I really do like to work. I like being around people and I like to see people smile. Today I baked cookies for everyone and they loved them! Its a good feeling. I love the food industry. Everyday I get to walk through a huge industrial kitchen, and I feel so at home. I have been walking through big kitchens like this since I was like 5 years old when I would go into work with my dad and we would get these giant bread sticks! haha. Its funny how things that you do as a kid really affect who you become to be as an adult. We'll see where the wind blows me and where I will end up after college. Possibly cullinary school, possibly the food service industry, or possibly in something that I don't even know yet. But as of now, I am going to continue being a college student who loves to bake. :)

A Day With Dad
So as some know, my relationship with my dad is just okay. I LOVE him to death, but sometimes he just doesn't understand "this is how to be a dad." We don't spend much alone time together, and whenever I hint at something I want us to do together, he just doesn't quite get it. But I know he loves me. But recently we were talking and he was telling me all about his life and how he got where he is today. Its pretty incredible. He such a hard working man and I respect him for that. Not only that, but our dreams and interests are VERY similar. He did some culinary school when he got out of highschool and that's what I have always wanted to do. He also thought about doing architecture in college, I wanted to do that. YADA YADA YADA. Recently we have been spending some more time together. For example, yesterday he and I went to Texas Restaurant Association Food Expo. It was so much fun. We talked some, but not an overwhelming amount. But thats okay. I think its going to take time. But it meant the world to me to just be by his side doing what he does and doing what we BOTH enjoy doing. Being in the food industry. Talking to companies about their product and discussing with eachother why this would be great at the Restaurant and the Country Club. He helping me and giving me life advice on what I should do with my life. He knows so many people in the food industry and its just perfect. He actually seemed excited to give me advice. When we came across the Culinary Institute of America booth, and he explained, "Now thats the place to go!" Because we interested in the same things, he gets excited. But he tells me to get my degree first and then go to culinary school and get an associates degree. We had such a good time on the computer together exploring all the possibilities of my future. But its so comforting to hear the words from him, "Don't worry about things too much right now. Just focus on getting that degree in hand, and the opportunities will fall in their place when they are supposed to." WOW.
Anywho, I have know idea if this makes any sense, I just really needed to sort out my thoughts. hahaha My latest idea is the get a Nutrition Science Degree with a Minor in Child and Family Studies (just so that those classes don't go to waste). Then go to culinary school. From there, I'll decide exactly what I want to do. But there are just so many ideas going on in my head that I can't even write them out haha.
I just made another cookie! Chocolate Expresso Butterscotch. and man they are OH SO good! :)
